Book Review; Manhunt by Gretchen Felker-Martin

I read the dystopian horror novel Manhunt by Gretchen Felker-Martin earlier this month and today I'll post my review of the book.

Description from Goodreads
Beth and Fran spend their days traveling the ravaged New England coast, hunting feral men and harvesting their organs in a gruesome effort to ensure they'll never face the same fate.

Robbie lives by his gun and one hard-learned other people aren't safe.

After a brutal accident entwines the three of them, this found family of survivors must navigate murderous TERFs, a sociopathic billionaire bunker brat, and awkward relationship dynamics―all while outrunning packs of feral men, and their own demons.

My Thoughts on the Book
While a good concept, I felt the book got a bit murky at times with all the various POV's, and the lack of distinct change in time. For instance, in a lot of cases, one didn't quite know if the next scene happened the day afterwards or two weeks afterwards, or whatever. Fair enough that novels rarely have "time stamps" throughout the text, but you usually know when there's a lapse in time.

Something else was the whole "characters shagging like rabbits"-thing, as it did little to move the plot along for the most part. I have nothing against sex scenes, but I prefer it's used as a plot device of sorts. Also, is it really needed having so much violence against women? Fair enough it's a dystopian novel, but still.

Overall, while I liked the idea of the book, I felt it was executed poorly as it was more of a dystopian novel with lots of sex scenes and violence, but very little else. Perhaps apart from showing just how bad transphobia and TERF's are.
